For Tax Year 2008,  VITA volunteers prepared federal and state income tax returns for 2264 taxpayers at eight sites in Forsyth County. Of these, 892 claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for $1,253,553.  Total refunds claimed totalled $3,311,694. In addition, the free tax preparation saved an estimated $200 per return or $452,800.
