For Tax Year 2010,  VITA volunteers prepared federal and state income tax returns for 2949 taxpayers at eight sites in Forsyth County. Of these, 885 claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for $1,298,824.  Total refunds claimed totalled $3,361,249. In addition, the free tax preparation saved an estimated $200 per return or $589,800.
